College Community Support Officer (CCSO)
Salary: Pro rata of GBP26,451 - GBP 28,907 per annum (i.e. GBP21,974.68 - GBP24,015.05)
Working Pattern: 37 hours per week, 36 weeks per year (paid for 43.2 weeks) Monday to Thursday 9:00 to 17:00, Friday 9:00 to 16:30.
We are looking to recruit an exceptional candidate for this high-profile role. The ideal candidate will be charismatic, determined, and confident, with the ability to engage hard-to-reach groups and disengaged students, as well as develop and coordinate activities that promote social cohesion and integration.
Responsibilities include:
1. Providing the first response to incidents across the College site.
2. Assisting Managers or appropriate College staff to adopt a collaborative problem-solving approach to highlighted issues.
3. Implementing de-escalation techniques and restorative justice.
4. Acting as Safeguarding Officer for assigned cases in liaison with the Safeguarding team, gathering evidence in relation to incidents and disclosures as per the Safeguarding policy.
Minimum Requirements:
It is essential that you hold GCSE maths and English Language, or equivalent at C/4 grade or above, as well as a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area, e.g. Coaching, Health and Social Care, Youth Work. Holding a First Aid Certificate and Door Supervisors certification or equivalent is desirable.
Experience of working with young people (including 14-19 year olds), vulnerable adults, and those with challenging behaviour is essential. You will have experience of working in Further Education and be able to deliver training in the workplace.
You must have knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults, including Prevent and the Equality Act 2010. Experience of working with Microsoft applications, including a working knowledge of databases, is also essential.
