At Affinity Water, we’re on a mission to transform the way water companies connect with customers and communities, use less water, and protect the environment for future generations. As the UK’s largest water-only supplier, we provide sustainable, high-quality water to 3.85 million customers across the Southeast of England.
In our Customer Experience space, we’re investing in a Digital Transformation Programme to enhance the way we engage with our customers. As part of this programme, we’re seeking a Digital Data and Control Lead to oversee and ensure data integrity, manage data migration, and lead integration and analysis activities as we implement a Master Customer Data System. This pivotal role involves re-platforming a website and migrating multiple data feeds from legacy systems into a new platform.
As the Digital Data and Control Lead, you will focus on designing and implementing system-driven control protocols that maintain data integrity, security, and compliance. You’ll work closely with subject matter experts from our Customer Team to map controls and manage the entire data lifecycle, including migration and system integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Migration and Integration
* Design and execute customer data migration processes from legacy systems to the new Master Customer Data System.
* Develop, monitor, and optimise processes for seamless data integration between the new system and other internal systems.
* Ensure data migration meets high-quality standards through data cleansing, transformation, and validation.
* Collaborate with system architects and developers to define data migration requirements and ensure the integrity of customer data.
* Ensure end-point data fields support the digitisation of customer journeys via integrated real-time processing.
Control Framework and Data Integrity
* Build system-driven control protocols to maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with organisational frameworks.
* Map and document secure, validated, and auditable data flows across systems.
* Design and implement automated control processes to minimise manual intervention and reduce risks.
* Embed compliance controls to meet regulatory obligations and deliver robust reporting mechanisms.
Data Modelling and Analysis
* Develop and maintain data that align with business needs and optimise system performance, reliability, and scalability.
* Analyse large datasets to validate data quality, resolve inconsistencies, and provide actionable insights.
Risk Mitigation and Compliance
* Ensure all activities adhere to compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
* Identify and mitigate risks such as data loss or breaches.
* Document and report on control tests, integrity checks, and compliance adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
* Partner with data architects, compliance teams, and project managers to ensure seamless data migration and governance.
* Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders to address data-related risks effectively.
Reporting and Documentation
* Create detailed documentation of control processes, migration steps, and integration efforts.
* Provide comprehensive reports on data integrity, control effectiveness, and project progress to senior management.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience in data governance, migration, or management roles within large-scale system migration projects.
* Strong understanding of data governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
* Familiarity with data security best practices and regulatory requirements.
* Analytical mindset with the ability to diagnose and resolve data integrity issues.
* Strong attention to detail, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Ability to translate regulations into actionable, controllable steps.
If you’re passionate about ensuring data integrity, driving compliance, and leading the technical aspects of large-scale projects, we’d love to hear from you. Join us and play a critical role in transforming how we manage and use customer data.
