We invite applications for 2 Junior Clinical Teaching Fellow posts. Two posts are available working between Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole General Hospital. It is a fantastic time to join our enthusiastic team as we look to strengthen our already highly regarded undergraduate training programme. Main duties of the job
Clinical Teaching Fellows will be involved in the delivery of a wide variety of teaching including:
1. Bedside teaching on wards
2. Small group problem solving / tutorials
3. Clinical skills teaching
4. Course induction and feedback sessions
The successful candidate will help to develop and organise teaching sessions for medical students and will liaise with speciality lead clinicians to do so.
The successful candidate will organise and deliver exam preparation training including a mock OSCE for final year students.
CTFs will offer pastoral support for medical students and will be role models for medical students in all aspects of professional and clinical life.
CTFs will be as flexible and adaptable as possible and will try to offer personalised support and training for students.
The CTF role is primarily educational and the successful candidates will adapt and spend all of their time providing education at key times of year with the flexibility to experience more clinical work at other times of year (average 2 clinical sessions per week).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
These posts are full time, one year fixed term post based on 10 sessions per week: 8 sessions of educational work and 2 sessions of clinical work in a speciality of your choice.
The successful candidates will be encouraged to undertake a Certificate in Medical Education which will be funded.
The successful candidates will work alongside the Associate Clinical Sub Deans and the Undergraduate Co-ordinators to deliver outstanding training to medical students.
The successful candidates will be involved in organising and delivering clinical teaching to students in the final 2 years of their course at Southampton University Medical School.
Successful candidates will be encouraged to undertake medical education research projects and quality improvement projects and will be encouraged to submit abstracts and attend medical education conferences (for example the Association for the Study of Medical Education, ASME).
ACCOUNTABILITY
You will report to the Associate Clinical Sub Dean; Mr James Manners for the RBH site and Dr Nick Evans for the PGH site.
You will be expected to engage in regular meetings with an educational supervisor and to develop a personal development plan for your post.
You will be assigned a clinical supervisor who will oversee your 2 weekly clinical sessions.
You will be expected to remain up to date with all mandatory training and competences.

Experience
* Eligible to work in the UK
* Up to date with current NHS clinical practice
* Minimum 2 years post graduate clinical work experience (at commencement of post)
* Trained at UK medical school or familiar with the curriculum and requirements of University of Southampton Medical School
* Evidence of involvement in audit and research projects
* Evidence of commitment to medical education
Interpersonal skills
* Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
* Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
* Demonstrates good time management skills
* Prepared to be flexible in working patterns
Qualifications and Training
* Current GMC registration and licence to practice
* Basic Medical Qualification
* Successful completion of 2 year Foundation Programme
* Medical Education Teaching Qualification
* Compliant with all mandatory training
* Clinical experience in paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology
General Experience
* Able to communicate in written and spoken English as necessary for the role
* Evidence of other attributes, hobbies or skills that may provide transferrable skills to the post
