Job Title: Senior Specification Technologist Salary: £38,000 Location: Slough or Lincolnshire, Northern Ireland Department: Technical Reports to: Technical Manager About the Role My Client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Specification Technologist to join the technical team. In this role, you will lead specification work for at least one key customer or product category, ensuring the creation and approval of accurate, compliant product specifications, pack copies, and artwork. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring all technical documentation meets customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and internal standards. Key Responsibilities: Lead specification creation and approval for specific customers or product categories, ensuring all documentation is accurate and right the first time. Write, approve, and maintain finished product specifications, ensuring consistency with raw material data, factory recipes, and customer requirements. Generate legal pack copy and approve artwork for primary and secondary packaging, ensuring compliance with all legal and customer standards. Collaborate with internal teams, including NPD and commercial, to manage critical paths and deliver projects on time. Liaise directly with customers on technical and regulatory issues, providing expertise on specifications and artwork requirements. Support junior colleagues and other departments with training, guidance, and process improvements. Continuously challenge existing processes to drive efficiency and best practices. What We’re Looking For: Essential: Strong experience in creating product specifications for a range of retail customers. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and ability to liaise directly with customers. Competence in managing specifications for complex, multi-level recipes. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and other specification systems. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and work independently. Desirable: Experience across both retail and food service sectors. Familiarity with a broad product range, including multi-category food items. Project management skills.
