An opportunity has arisen for a gynaecology fellowship based at University Hospital Dorset. The post is ideal for senior trainee or post CCT individuals who wish to train in or increase their exposure to more independent decision making. The post holder will work as a member of our team comprising of 24 consultants. They would take part in providing out of hours cover to our elective patients. There will also be opportunities to develop gynaecological skills such as outpatients hysteroscopy, colposcopy or gynaecological scanning. The post holder would be encouraged to partake in audit.

The post holder would contribute to the out of hours cover on the elective operating site. This would include nights and weekends at a frequency of approximately 1:4. It would be anticipated this work would be high frequency but low intensity.

There is a planned move for this service when thisrole and base of work will relocate. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder’s home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.
Requirements
The applicant should have at least 3 years’ experience working at registrar level. They should also be in possession of their MRCOG part 3.
Excellent communication skills are essential as is the ability to work as a team.
The successful applicants will be expected to contribute to the Department’s governance programme, including participation in department meetings, safety initiatives and morbidity and mortality meetings. The successful candidates will be expected to fully engage with Appraisal as part of GMC Revalidation.
Departmental services
University hospital Dorset is split across several sites but the applicants work would be based on the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site and the Poole Hospital site.
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology department is made up of 20 consultants. There is a wide range of obstetric and gynaecological services offered including urogynaecology, cancer, colposcopy, early pregnancy, menopause, fetal and maternal medicine and pre-term birth.
