About The Role GB Bank are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operational Risk Manager to join our Risk team. This role presents a unique opportunity for an individual who thrives in a dynamic and multifaceted environment, offering the chance to engage with various aspects of risk management throughout the organisation. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting, guiding, and challenging our approach to operational risk, as well as contributing to the broader risk management initiatives. This is a broad and hands-on role where you will be expected to provide support, guidance, and challenge on a variety of topics – not limited to purely operational risk. The post holder will provide support across the wider 2nd line team in promoting, embedding, and maintaining the Bank’s Risk management framework and the right risk culture within the Bank. Whilst an operational risk management role, you will be expected to input and help manage any risks faced by the Bank, providing independent guidance and challenge on all aspects of Risk and Governance. We’ll reply on you to… Perform all activities as delegated by the Head of Risk and Compliance. Embrace the role of Risk Business Partner for the areas of the business identified supporting them with all matters relating to risk and where additional value and/or challenge can be provided. Capture risk events and liaise with the business to manage risks. For any new initiatives/projects, support the team and business in the identification, monitoring, and management of risks. Leading the development of operational risk management capabilities across the business (e.g. risk appetite, policies, framework, processes, RCSAs, risk event reporting, scenario analysis, MI, etc.) Providing Line 2 advice & challenge to all business areas re. risk management. Leading operational scenario analysis to support capital assessments. Assist the Risk Team in developing and implementing standards and policies in line with the Group’s Risk Management Framework. Develop relationships within the business and assist in the shaping and raising the profile of Risk, promote leading practices and continuous improvement. Identify risks, assess the effectiveness of control design, changes and confirm that any control gaps identified are managed until closed within a timely basis. Conduct reviews and challenge of departmental process level risk assessments. Support the Risk team in embedding reporting of risk events and maintenance of the risk register. Provide ongoing risk input and support for projects. Maintain awareness of key business activities and emerging risks, identifying areas where further second line of oversight / activity may be required. Preparing and delivering risk reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies that meet regulatory expectations and internal standards. Manage the preparation of management information and regular reporting for committees i.e. Executive Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee. Lead the delivery of risk-based monitoring reviews across a range of areas. Embed a methodology for ongoing monitoring reviews, including planning, testing, and reporting phases. Attend risk and governance committees as required. Assist the Head of Risk and Compliance in risk and compliance related matters as required. Maintain all systems-based records in an accurate and timely manner. We’d love to hear from you if… You are detail oriented and focussed with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and stakeholders. You have relevant experience within an FS business and second line function, ideally within a Risk team. However, experience in Internal Audit or Compliance roles would be considered. You have strong technical knowledge of risk and control frameworks. You have strong skills around planning, organisation, and prioritisation. You are resilient and an ability to adapt and work in an environment of change and ambiguity. You have advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) knowledge and experience You are an effective communication and presentation skills. You have strong attention to detail (essential).
