As a qualified nurse, the post holder will be a key team member contributing towards high quality patient care and the development of the Practice. The nurse is responsible for delivering a wide range of nursing services to the practice population. You will work autonomously within your own areas of competence as outlined and collaboratively with the general practice team in the care of practice patients. Patient Care providing a wide range of nursing services to include the following areas. Training will be given where required Dressings, wound care and referring to relevant services such as leg ulcer clinic if needed Immunisations, including childhood immunisations, seasonal flu, pertussis, pneumococcal, shingles and RSV Injections including Zoladex, B12s, Prostap, Nebido etc Travel Vaccinations Contraceptive, family planning and sexual health advice including pill and coil checks and administering Depo Provera injections Cytology smear tests Health promotion at reviews for both men and womens health and on an opportunistic basis with referral to other members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary Chronic Disease monitoring and reviews in accordance with training and experience, as required for patient care and QoF Minor injury patients Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs Diet and nutrition advice ECGs Blood pressure checks Safeguarding recognise and report on Safeguarding concerns for both adults and children Swabs Venepuncture INR monitoring and the use of INR star Undertaking urinalysis This list is not exhaustive. Other responsibilities may also include Participating in infection control checks and audit Helping maintain and clean equipment used by the nurses and GPs Helping maintain GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required Undertaking housekeeping duties including, general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms Helping maintain stocks of waiting room leaflets Ordering of Health Promotion Literature Ordering of stock from the local hospital Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels Obligation at all times to maintain accurate records Duty to advise line manager of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks Attendance at and participation in any practice meetings when required.
