Our mission At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The VX4, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), 'zero emissions' aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky. We won't realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to 'redefine' aerospace best practices. We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals of having the VX4 in service by 2030. What to expect As a Mechanical Systems Department Technical Programme Manager, you will join a growing team of passionate individuals whose primary focus is to develop, track and manage projects across the Mechanical System Department – Actuation, Propeller and Landing Gear Systems – for our VX4 Certification aircraft. You will not simply make project plans for other people's work, rather be personally responsible for the delivery of flight cleared hardware and drive all the necessary tasks to achieve this. We need you to see problems coming and find a way to solve them before they happen. A typical day could range from coordinating deliverables with product Team Leads to liaising with cross-functional stakeholders, to creating progress reports and managing the risk register for the Mechanical Systems Department. The ability to quickly figure things out and make decisions at pace as well as see problems coming and solve them before they happen will all factor into this role's impact and your success. What you'll do You will be responsible for coordinating and tracking deliverables & tasks as defined by the teams' Level 1 Microsoft Project (MSP) plans. You will serve as the primary interface with the L0 Programme team and ensure that the L1 plans are embedded in the VX4 integrated master schedule. You will coordinate and track day-to-day tasks in the Atlassian toolset and ensure they are interlinked with the L1 plans and regularly updated. You will be leading the reporting of project progress and resource consumption, including creation of progress, variance & deliverable maturity reports for the Mechanical Systems Department. You will be responsible for assisting the Head of the Mechanical Systems Department to manage the cost centre budget. You will assist product Team Leads to estimate resource demand and standardize across product teams, including developing business cases for resource shortfalls. What you'll bring. Competence with Microsoft Project and project planning methodologies. Strong financial forecasting and tracking skills. Experience with formal change management protocols. High pedigree of risk management competence. Excellence in communication and stakeholder engagement across internal and external organizations. Ability to lead governance processes and standardize practices across teams. Competence with Business Intelligence principles (data visualization software skills a bonus). Experience in coordinating cross-functional teams and managing external partnerships. Bsc degree in a relevant engineering or project management field. What can you expect from us?
