Are you interested in complex, longer-term multi-disciplinary therapeutic work? Would you like to be involved in providing trauma-informed, creative and compassionate care?
We are recruiting for an HCPC registered Art Therapist to join our forensic in-patient teams in Oxford. This includes our low secure units Thames House (women), Wenric House (men) and our medium secure men's unit, the Oxford Clinic.
You'll provide high-quality art therapy, working with a challenging yet rewarding population, supporting men and women with severe, complex mental health disorders and serious risk behaviours. Clients in the residential units are detained under the MHA and may have Home Office restrictions after transfer from prison or secure settings.
Reflective thinking and creative approaches are highly valued. There is an emphasis on close multi-disciplinary team working within a supportive and psychologically-minded context. Staff support and family/carers involvement play an important part of the role.

Main duties of the job
* Providing Art/Music/Drama Therapy within the service to adults with mental health problems in secure care as a key component of integrated health care.
* Providing clinical leadership as an Art Therapist in forensic services, including coordination and supervision for staff, trainees and volunteers employed by or attached to the service, under the general direction and supervision of the Professional Lead.
* Carrying a specialist caseload of clients, and providing advice to patients, family members, carers and professionals. You'll provide input to the forensic (secure) inpatient wards, contribute to and support the framework for the delivery of psychological therapies.
* Communicate in a highly skilled and sensitive manner with clients who may have specific difficulties in understanding and/or communicating and who may be hostile, antagonistic or highly emotionally disturbed.
* Work closely with colleagues in the multi-professional integrated mental health and wellbeing service on a day to day basis.
* Communicate with a wide range of health & social care staff in hospital and in community settings in a highly skilled and sensitive manner, complex and sensitive information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under the service’s care.
