This is a training role within the Psychological Therapies Practice for children and young people (formally CYP-IAPT). We have posts across BNSSG. This training post will lead to status as an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with the BABCP. The post-holder will work within the Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire CAMHS service at Avon and Wiltshire Partnership Trust, providing Cognitive Behavioural therapy in the CAMHS service whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role at the University of Exeter.
This intensive training post will equip the post holder to provide evidence based intervention consistent with their training course. The post-holder would be expected to attend and fulfil all the requirements of the training element of the post.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Hold an appropriate caseload and key work.
2. Provide Specialist CAMHS assessments and therapeutic interventions to children, adolescents and their families who have been referred from external agencies, with severe, complex and enduring psychological, emotional and mental health difficulties.
3. Undertake assessments, including risk assessments, and contribute to care planning and deliver interventions in collaboration with children and young people.
4. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team offering evidence based interventions.
5. Conduct risk assessments and provide risk management plans in line with the clinical risk policy; including safeguarding.
6. Regularly review and monitor outcome of assessment and effects of treatment in line with CYP-IAPT outcome monitoring.
7. Assess the needs of the individual children, young people and their families and manage a defined case load.
8. Provide therapeutic treatment packages including short or long term interventions.
9. Maintain confidentiality on all matters relating to the private affairs and treatment of clients, except in cases where the child’s safety and wellbeing would necessitate the sharing of information.
10. Act as mentor for nursing students on placement within the service.
11. Engage in joint work with team members and external agencies.
12. Advise and offer consultation to other agencies.
13. Develop and maintain inter-agency working to provide an integrated response for the benefit of children and young people.
14. Share any special skills or knowledge acquired with colleagues to enhance the expertise of the team.
15. Adhere to the relevant professional code of conduct ensuring required skills and competencies are maintained.
16. Maintain record keeping in line with service requirements and clinical governance.
17. Participate in clinical audit and service evaluation programmes as required.
18. Participate in local arrangements where required to manage unexpected staff absences.
Training and Supervision:
1. Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the training element of the post including practical, academic and practice based assessments.
2. Apply learning from the training programme in practice.
3. Receive supervision from educational providers in relation to course work to meet the required standards.
4. Prepare and present clinical information for all patients on their caseload to clinical case management supervisors within the service on an agreed and scheduled basis.
5. Respond to and implement supervision suggestions by supervisors in clinical practice.
6. Engage in and respond to personal development supervision to improve competences and clinical practice.
7. Engage in all requirements to use feedback and clinical outcomes tools.
8. Engage in service user participation as appropriate.
Please note that although this is predominantly a 9-5 Monday to Friday role whilst in training, depending on where the candidate is placed at the end of the training programme, they may be expected to work extended hours including nights and weekends.
