The DBT Trade Negotiations Security Team (TNST) is tasked with the development and delivery of ground-breaking and innovative ways for trade negotiators to work safely and securely across the UK and overseas. TNST works to protect the UKs trade negotiators, corporate IT and UK/Free Trade Agreement partner information, as well as provide advice and promote a security conscious culture across the HMG negotiation teams operating overseas, at trade negotiations facilities in the UK and remotely. TNST works closely with a range of cross-Whitehall, internal and global stakeholders. The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day delivery of the services that the TNST provides. The candidate will ensure that standards of services are maintained and where possible continually improved. This focuses on physical, procedural, technical and personnel security. This role will provide effective engagement, direction and development to TNST and other operational security team members in order to achieve the highest standards of quality and service delivery to the Chief Negotiators and to their teams. Job description Understand HMG security policies and use them to support UK trade negotiations in the UK and/or overseas. Delivering operational security requirements to effectively manage risk to staff, information and assets. Continually review delivery processes to ensure they are meeting business needs Using knowledge of overseas government protective security arrangements to design, promote and deliver levels of security commensurate with a range of existing, merging and future threats. Collaborate with the wider departmental security team subject matter experts to ensure that staff are aware of their security responsibilities. Effective management and supervision of the team. Organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver them at pace to a high standard Willing and able to travel overseas to support negotiations. Desirable Criteria The below criteria are desirable only. These will not be assessed throughout the recruitment process, but will be used in the event of tied scores between candidates; Experience in developing and following security policies and advising on best security practice and processes in a range of environments. Customer service experience and skills. Experience of managing a team with multiple priorities. Experienced in managing budgets, forecasting, year end reconciliation. Excellent team player, also able to act on own initiative. Ability to make decisions confidently when needed, even if they prove difficult or unpopular.
