Principal Designer Job Overview
Coordinate their internal technical experts in architecture, building surveying, structures and building services engineering, in delivering Organisational Competence for the PD Role. Collate and comment on all Design Risk compliance documents.
Produce, review and update a BSA compliance Risk Register / Project Compliance Coordination Record. Assist Client in preparing competence declaration. Coordinate the review of the full design package by their internal specialists in architecture/building surveying/services engineering/structures and highlight Building Regulations compliance. Gather input and coordinate with their internal technical specialists. Assist in preparing the project Building Regulations conformance statement and other BR PD duties. Assess necessary involvement during the Construction Phase by setting out visits, requirements and information to be provided by the Principal Contractor requirements, and any opening up or inspection regime. Conduct periodic inspections of the works as defined in scope for each particular project. Coordinate and gather any variations to the design which may impact Building Regulation compliance.
Principal Designer Job Requirements
1. Proven experience within a CDM / Health & Safety advisor role or a Building Control, Building Surveying, or Clerk Of Works background is required for their Building Regulations Principal Designer and Building Safety Act team.
2. Ability to commute to one of their offices in Central London, Essex, Cambridge, Norwich, Oxford and Nottingham.
3. NEBOSH certificate or other relevant qualification.
4. Membership of or working towards AaPs, IMaPS and IOSH or IIRSM.
