Research Executive/Senior Research Executive (Qual and Quant)
As an RE/SRE, you will play an important role in our research team, involved in all aspects of projects from inception to completion. At Flume, you will work with some of the world’s favourite brands. You will be the main day-to-day client contact on projects, from brand tracking and product testing to focus groups and online communities across a range of ongoing and ad-hoc studies of all types and in all sorts of categories. You will manage projects, run fieldwork, analyse findings and write reports. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious researcher looking to take the next step in their career.
Key responsibilities
* Project Management – managing the day-to-day on a range of both qualitative and quantitative research projects, ensuring they stay on time and within scope
* Client Liaison – building relationships with clients, ensuring you understand their needs and quickly gain their confidence
* Team Collaboration – working well with the rest of the team, both quantitative and qualitative
* Design – writing the first draft of discussion guides, community task guides and questionnaires on relevant projects
* Fieldwork – on the qualitative side, moderating face to face projects including accompanied shops, interviews, intercepts and, in time, focus groups
* Stimulus – working with client-provided materials to produce stimulus for focus groups and other qual methodologies
* Analysis – checking, analysing and reporting data on the quant side, interpreting and analysing what people have told us on the qual side
* Reporting – building the first draft of reports including creating charts, developing a story and identifying actions
* Quality Assurance – ensuring high standards are maintained throughout the research process – checking recruitment, data quality and proof reading presentations
* Offering a point of view – we’re a non-hierarchical agency, people at all levels are expected to have a point of view and to voice it
Key skills and experience
* Market research experience – experience working agency side in market research, ideally working on brand and marketing products. It is ok if you have previously specialised in qualitative or quantitative research, but experience of both and exposure to the sorts of projects and brands we work with will be a significant advantage
* A lover of data – you should be highly numerate and love getting stuck into data and finding patterns and stories within it
* An interest in people – you should have a keen interest in culture, society, people and what makes them behave the way that they do
* Comfortable chatting to people – a big part of being a qualitative researcher is being comfortable chatting to people you don’t know and being interested in finding out what they think, if the idea of this terrifies you, this isn’t a role for you!
* Critical thinking – an ability to think critically and analytically about data and the things people tell us, but also about client business problems, brands and marketing more broadly
* Ability to think on your feet – being able to adapt to different situations, and deal with the wide range of curve balls which ad hoc research inevitably throws your way
* Communication skills – strong verbal and written communications skills
* Attention to detail – a keen eye for detail, the sort of person for whom a missing apostrophe, a misaligned box or a typo are infuriating
* Experience with software – should be comfortable working in PowerPoint, Excel, Google Slides and Google Sheets. Experience with SPSS, R or Q are an advantage but not an expectation
What we offer
* Salary - £28-32,000 depending on experience
* Holiday – unlimited holiday
* Private medical insurance
* Flexible working – we all work flexibly, we are open to different ways of working depending on needs
* Diversity and Inclusion – we are committed to diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from all
We are based in Shirley, Birmingham, and whilst we mainly work remotely, there is a need to be in the office at least one day a week, and to be available to work from the office on an ad hoc basis as and when required.
