World café Day is a structured conversational process for staff from our various centres to discuss a topic at several small tables like those in a café and share their ideas of what we currently do, how we could do it better, new ideas for the future etc. Some degree of formality may be retained to make sure that everyone gets a chance to speak. Although pre-defined topics have been agreed upon at the beginning, outcomes or solutions are not decided in advance. The assumption is that collective discussion can shift people’s conceptions and encourage collective action.
Staff find this event inspiring, informative, and engaging especially meeting other staff members from different sites and are happy to know that it could contribute to SDL’s Strategy Planning for the future.
