Your key role will be to operationally manage the Emergency Department and support with clinical quality standards achieved across UEC by providing inspirational and visible clinical leadership to the nursing and medical teams. You will ensure the delivery of exceptional patient-centered and safe care to patients across the directorate.
You will support the matron who will be responsible for professional leadership, demonstrating a supportive and flexible leadership approach as well as a proactive, responsible attitude to promote confidence in the teams and the services.

The post holder will work across the UEC with specific line management for the Emergency Department, with the expectation that further teams will be developed and fall under direct line management of the post holder.
The Matron will ensure the delivery of exceptional patient-centered and safe care to patients across the directorate.
They will support the Lead Nurse who will be responsible for professional leadership, demonstrating a supportive and flexible leadership approach as well as a proactive, responsible attitude to promote confidence in the team and the service.
They will be part of the senior nursing structure within the urgent care division and contribute to the overall upholding of all safety standards, efficiency, productivity KPIs, and national AFPP standards.
They will provide expert urgent care knowledge and leadership in the continuing progressive development of urgent care services, specifically ED, and keep the patient experience at the heart of all actions.
They will explore current practice, identifying areas for development and planning the appropriate change using the research and evidence base together with experience to evaluate outcomes.
They will support the Lead Nurse who has responsibility for the quality of the patient’s environment in order to improve the patient’s experience.
