Job Title: M&E Estimating Manager Department: M&E Department Location: Head Office (Sheffield) Salary: £65,000 - £80,000 plus car allowance Reporting To: Head of M&E Job Role The Estimating Manager is responsible for supporting the business by overseeing all aspects of estimating activities within the M&E department. This role plays a key part in the company's work-winning strategy and involves managing a team, ensuring compliance, and contributing to successful bid submissions across sectors including mechanical, electrical, data & IT services, and facilities management projects. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Supervision: Directly supervise the Estimating Team, ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly defined. Support staff development through training, mentoring, and annual appraisals. Bid & Tender Management: Manage the tender enquiry process and ensure efficient tracking of estimates and quotations. Lead bid strategies, review meetings, and final settlement processes. Collaborate with Pre-Construction Manager and Directors to coordinate workloads, target program dates, and delivery schedules. Read tender documentation, review specifications, and request additional information when necessary. Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with the Head of Business Development to identify and secure work opportunities. Participate in internal reviews of workload and opportunities, maintaining dialogue with internal stakeholders. Compliance & Reporting: Ensure full compliance with company systems, processes, and corporate governance levels. Prepare management reports, including KPIs, pipeline, and strike rate statistics for board review. Market Analysis & Cost Validation: Maintain financial records of completed bids to monitor competitive market levels. Validate estimators' costs within bids before submission to ensure accuracy and competitiveness. Resource Management: Plan, allocate, and manage internal and external resources to process bids successfully. Coordinate with the buying department to ensure the best pricing and subcontractor bases are utilized during tenders. System Optimization: Maintain and update the company's estimating package (Cypher) to ensure consistent and accurate estimates.
