Our UK and Continental Europe team is growing and we’re looking for an Electrical Engineer who can progress in Substations and Plant design role to provide support to projects across Jacobs’ markets. This includes work on transmission system assets, HVDC interconnectors, energy storage systems, inertia systems, wind farms and advanced facilities for mission critical industries in the technology and process sectors. We will consider technical professionals from most backgrounds, but we are especially keen to seek experience within rail, oil and gas refinery, substation/plant design. Key Responsibilities Deliver HV Plant / Primary Design for substation projects for our Transmission & Distribution clients. Prepare technical specifications for electrical plant and provide associated electrical designs for the substation upgrades (e. g. transformer replacements, shunt reactor replacements, new bays, etc.), and new substations projects (AIS / GIS) up to and including 400kV, including various stages of design, concept, FEED, detailed design for construction. Ensure adequate quality assurance process is followed through as per the requirements. Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with the contract to the satisfaction of the client and the specifications. Ensure that relevant Health and Safety risks and hazards are identified, made known to the project team and properly managed. Actively developing external and internal client relationships. Ensure adequate resources and training of resources for the purposes of delivering FEED and detailed design work for National Grid, SSEN, and other clients. Interface with other discipline e.g. Civil/Structural, Protection & Control, HV Cables and OHL engineers. Here's what you'll need A degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution or working towards chartered status Experience within an electrical discipline and experience in delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects Relevant, professional experience in HV and LV experience and knowledge of substations 400kV - Experience preparing design calculations, reports, and detailed drawings.
