Job Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Master Technician to join our Fleet Services team and play a key role in our ongoing journey. You'll support and manage the technical teams within a busy workshop environment, identifying training and career development opportunities, driving productivity, and ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety and MOT regulations.
About Us
Fleet Services operates under the South Staffordshire Plc banner and runs two mechanical workshops across the Midlands and Staffordshire. With over 50 years of industry experience, we take pride in the extensive knowledge and expertise of our technicians. In addition to providing external services, we manage the internal fleet operations for our 2,500-vehicle fleet, ensuring efficient and reliable service.
The Role
* Manage workshop schedules to maximise productivity and minimise customer delays.
* Oversee the DVSA MOT online portal, track monthly MOT statistics, and conduct quality checks.
* Assess and recommend improvements for vehicle diagnostic equipment.
* Ensure timely processing of warranty claims and report to the Head of Fleet.
* Maintain accurate records of parts stock and oversee efficient returns processing.
* Support Fleet Coordinators with technical training and cost-saving initiatives.
* Work closely with the Head of Fleet to maintain consistency, compliance, and high safety standards.
* Monitor and enforce Health & Safety compliance across both workshops.
* Conduct regular competency assessments to develop and enhance team skills.
* Drive fleet productivity across all workshops.
* Implement apprenticeship programs to support skill development within the workshop environment.
What We’re Looking For
* IMI accreditation and Master Technician status.
* Strong knowledge of Health & Safety requirements for electric/hybrid vehicles.
* Ideally, an IOSH Health & Safety certification.
* Experience managing a team within a mechanical environment.
