An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen within the Financial Management Team for a Senior Accounting Technician to provide mainly capital accounting support and challenge across the Isle of Wight Council's ambitious £186 million capital programme (current value over the 2024 to 2029 period).
You will thrive on working with precise accuracy and diligence involving material monetary values from schemes across the capital programme that have a big impact on the Island. The successful candidate will:
* Maintain capital code structures and budgets on the council’s finance system (SAP).
* Liaise with managers on financial queries, data quality and availability of funding.
* Produce and distribute monthly capital budget monitoring, representing finance at various boards and project specific meetings.
* Ensure the funding of the programme remains in balance, including the reconciliation of capital receipts, grants, and contributions.
* Work with a strong team ethic in particular around the annual statement of accounts year end process.
You must be Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) fully qualified or relevant equivalent and be comfortable working in a modern financial environment providing financial advice to various stakeholders.
