The Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust Radiography service is offering a fantastic opportunity to join the imaging team as MRI Superintendent, leading our dedicated team of Radiographers and Support Workers. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, and highly experienced MR Radiographer to influence the way the service is delivered to our patients.
In your role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the MRI service and be able to advise on MRI related matters. Candidates will have extensive experience in carrying out MR examinations in the NHS and be able to evidence their management experience. You will lead and support the team in providing high-quality diagnostic MR imaging and lead in the provision of new examinations and techniques that support patient pathways.
The Trust imaging service is supported by a Community Diagnostic Centre, managed by Inhealth. This includes MRI scanning and the successful candidate will have a key role in liaising with the CDC team to ensure the best care for our patients.
Main duties of the job
This role is responsible for the MRI service and is accountable to the Radiology Directorate Manager and Clinical Service Lead.
* Provide leadership in operational management, ensuring high standards of practice and patient care in the MRI services of Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (TSDFT).
* Responsible for maintaining an environment conducive to delivering and maintaining high-quality, patient-centred care, fostering effective communication and relationships between all levels of TSDFT staff, patients, relatives, and visitors.
* Proactively support and strengthen the roles of the MRI Radiographer Team, being visible and accessible at all times when on duty. Focus areas include optimizing MRI workflows, ensuring service efficiency, and coordinating patient pathways for timely imaging, including working with external providers where necessary.
* To be aware of the performance, quality, and financial position of the service and in liaison with the senior leadership team, ensure good budgetary control, ensuring efficient use of resources and contributing to service development and improvements.
* Supervise and be responsible for a team of MRI Radiographers, Radiology Support Workers who are rostered to the service, and student/apprentice Radiographers, and other trainees as required.
Person specification
Qualifications and Training
* Current HCPC registration
* Masters level qualification or equivalent experience in delivery of MRI services
* Understanding of national guidance relating to MRI safety requirements
* Proven knowledge or use of PACS
* Highly motivated to provide a quality service
* Proactive and able to lead by example for junior staff
Experience
* Evidence of scope of MRI practice/experience
* Evidence of scope of service management experience
