Working in a very customer centric organisation you will be responsible for developing power electronics design architectures for electric vehicle / e-mobility applications ; technical leadership of a team and complex projects and driving new business initiatives and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. This role requires a strong technical background in both power electronics design and schematic capture / circuit design. Chief Engineers should know how to take products through the design lifecycle to validated prototype and be able to support the team at any stage or be technically hands-on in the design. This role could suit a Principal Engineer, Engineering manager or Chief engineer with a strong mix of high voltage power electronics design and technical leadership, see requirements below. Required experience / skills: Chief Engineer - Power Electronics Design Excellent academic background (degree / master’s degree in electrical, electronic engineering, etc) Strong communication skills with experience working directly with customers. Experience of leading complex technical projects and cross functional teams (e.g. power electronics, control software, motor design) Excellent track record in the design of HV power electronics (power inverters, variable speed drives, DC-AC traction motors, PMSM control, DC-DC converters, OBC) etc within automotive, aerospace, off-highway, marine, renewable energy or defence markets Proven skills in the design of high power / voltage systems – 400-1200V and 200kW inverters Experience of providing support to commercial / technical bids would be very useful This Chief Engineer Power Electronics Design role is based onsite (hybrid working could be considered) and is commutable from Birmingham.
