We have a brilliant opportunity as a Nursery Practitioner to join our amazing Nursery onsite at Next head office in Enderby! We're looking for lunch time cover on a temporary contract.
As a Nursery Practitioner level 3, you will work as part of the team providing high quality care, safety and stimulating play experiences to all individual children and their needs and help to implement the daily routine. In this role you will also get to observe, support and extend children’s learning, work as part of a team with other staff, liaise with parents promoting partnership and involvement, and read and understand all relevant documentation.
Shift: 10am - 2pm, Monday - Friday
About the role:
1. Begin to plan activities using EYFS guidance appropriate to the individual child and their stage of development.
2. Maintain records of achievement file for allocated key children.
3. Work with parents of special needs children to give full integration in the Nursery.
4. Support other staff including students and be part of a good staff team.
5. Attend required number of staff meetings and out of work social events at the nursery.
6. Be flexible within working practices of nursery. Be prepared to move rooms, help where needed and undertake certain domestic jobs within the Nursery.
7. Record accidents or incidents in the relevant books, ensuring parents' signatures are gained and a Room leader is notified.
8. Use initiative to respond to the needs of children attending the setting.
9. Ensure safeguarding of all children attending the setting.
10. Respect the confidentiality of information received as stated in the confidentiality policy. Awareness of the high profile of the nursery. Upholding high standards both in and out of work.
11. Develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key worker.
12. Participate in all child care procedures.
13. Ensure that nutritional needs of children are met and that mealtimes are a time to socialise and practice good manners.
14. Ensure general cleanliness of children at all times, washing and changing as required.
15. Provide comfort and warmth to an unwell child.
16. Help children to rest/sleep as required.
17. Ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.
18. Be aware of responsibilities towards Health and Safety in the nursery. Adhere to procedures set by manager and challenge any unsafe behaviour.
19. Understand child Protection Procedures and ensure children are kept safe.
About you:
1. Gained or training towards a recognised nursery qualification (Level 2 or 3).
2. Recognised qualification in English.
3. Experience or training towards working with children, staff, parents/carers, etc.
4. Knowledge, understanding and practical experience of day care for young children and the EYFS curriculum.
5. Awareness of purposeful planning for children in day care settings.
6. Ability to communicate confidently with parents/carers.
7. Able to work independently and to manage own time efficiently.
8. Understanding of the role of the key person.
9. Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities, partnership with families, and highest standards of service, and to the regular review and enhancement of these.
10. Enthusiastic, innovative and energetic.
11. Willingness to adapt and participate in hands-on Nursery activities as required.
12. Willing to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
