Job Opportunity: General Practitioner at HMP Lewes
We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our team at HMP Lewes, a category B remand prison based in Lewes, East Sussex. The prison houses around 692 patients aged between 18-65, including an inpatient unit. As part of this role, you will complete ward rounds on the inpatient unit and deliver clinical sessions. This role would suit a GP looking to deliver end-to-end care, with a significant proportion of patients having long-term conditions.
This is a part-time position, working 16 hours per week, with an annual salary up to £126,000 depending on experience.

Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role, offers of employment are subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Responsibilities:
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis, making timely management decisions
* Prescribe medications, review, and monitor prescriptions regularly
* Contribute as a highly specialized resource within the healthcare team, involved in clinical governance and effectiveness activities, including diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and referral in line with guidelines and pathways

Qualifications:
* MBChB or MBBS, GMC-registered, and on the GP Performers List
* Engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience in community general practice as a GP
* Ability to work with patients with substance misuse issues; RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2 preferred or willingness to undertake these
