Location:

The Position:
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Physical Literacy & Education, the Supervisor, Sport & Recreation, will be responsible for planning and delivering innovative, inclusive programs that increase participation in sport and recreation, helping community members develop their physical literacy through Abilities Centre programs and external partners.
The Supervisor will support the delivery of Physical Literacy workshops and certifications, ensuring all programs embody the teachings of education sessions. They will collaborate with multiple departments to develop internal/external processes for scheduling, program implementation, growth in line with IDEA strategies, and program evaluation and research. Additionally, they will help build pathways for participation, enabling individuals to unlock their potential in sport and recreation throughout their lifespan.
What You’ll Do:
1. Internal Program Development and Delivery:
* Oversee and contribute to the development of internal programs, including summer camp.
* Assist in facilitating evening programs, field trips, and other activities.
* Manage staff scheduling, payroll, and program logistics.
* Support staff development and foster a positive team culture.
* Collaborate on program evaluations with the Research Department.
* Develop and implement strategies for registered programs, including curriculum development, space booking, staffing, and marketing.
1. Physical Literacy and Education:
* Support delivery of workshops and certifications.
* Assist in developing virtual and video programming.
* Support programs with partner organizations like Children’s Treatment Centres and Hospitals.
* Manage program registrations and communications.
* Develop strategies for external activities like field trips, including scheduling and marketing.
* Engage in ongoing professional development in physical literacy.
* Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
What You Bring:
* Education and Knowledge:
o Post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Therapeutic Recreation, or related fields.
o At least 2 years’ experience in program delivery and evaluation.
o Experience working with individuals with disabilities or inclusion initiatives.
o Knowledge of Physical Literacy philosophy.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

o Excellent oral and written communication skills, comfortable with presentations.

o Current, clear criminal background check for vulnerable sectors.
o Valid First Aid and CPR ‘C’ / AED certifications.
o Flexible schedule, including availability for days, evenings, and weekends; reliable transportation required.
