Role Purpose
Responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) across the Travelex business. To develop, communicate and maintain OSH policy, arrangements and associated procedures/best practice in line with country legislation globally. To consult and collaborate with managers and operational teams to establish and maintain a positive H&S culture and continual improvement within their areas of responsibility. Provision of Subject Matter Expertise to ensure that the business maintains a safe working environment for our people, customers, and visitors.
Key Accountabilities
1. Health and Safety Objectives
1. Production of concise and accurate H&S risk assessments, reports, and recommendations in line with the programme agreed with the Group Risk Director.
2. Maintain and update H&S policy, procedures, and training material.
3. Ensure all regulatory reporting is completed to time/accuracy, e.g. RIDDOR.
4. Monitor and evaluate new or changing H&S legislation and its potential impact on the business – provide advice/guidance to the business in relation to this.
5. Ensure that protections in place for our travelling business community are communicated and appropriate to the needs of the business.
6. Undertake H&S related incident investigations and provide assistance to Travelex Group Insurance, Insurers, and their legal teams in the event of legal/civil actions to ensure that best outcomes for the business are achieved.
7. Maintain the Occupational Safety and Health area on the Lounge and ensure that the contents are relevant and informative.
2. Relationship Management
1. Develop sound professional working relationships with Operations colleagues, business staff, and management globally, working with HR and C&R teams in country.
2. Provide coaching and SME support to front line teams and other business support functions where a need is identified.
3. Build strong relationships with the central risk team and peers to ensure relevant information is communicated and shared in a timely manner.
3. Management Information
1. Produce accurate, timely, and relevant H&S risk MI for:
+ Group Risk Director
+ Chief Risk and Compliance Officer
+ Travelex Risk Committees
+ Travelex Country boards
4. Communication
1. Responsible for proactive and regular communication of H&S related information with other areas of Compliance & Risk and to the business stakeholders, e.g. new or changing H&S legislation.
2. Be supportive and encourage support for “people initiatives” e.g. Your Voice, DE&I.
3. Be proactive in the provision of feedback and the delivery of ideas to develop and improve solutions relating to Travelex C&R function and key business initiatives.
4. Lead and participate proactively as a member of the Group Risk team and C&R function.
5. Team Management
1. The role has no direct reports, however, liaises with in country C&R and HR teams.
6. General
1. Undertakes any necessary training associated with the duties of the post and participates in training and development as required.
2. Complies with all Company Health and Safety policies and legislation in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
3. Maintains confidentiality and observes data protection and privacy policies and guidelines.
4. Manage expenses in accordance with Company Expense Policy.
5. Carries out any other reasonable duties commensurate with their capability.
Experience and Personal Qualities
1. Professionally qualified, e.g. NEBOSH diploma or equivalent.
2. Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
3. Demonstrable experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of H&S policy and framework across a multi-faceted business.
4. Demonstrable investigative and claims management experience.
5. Excellent report writing and drafting ability, able to adapt styles to the target audience.
6. High level of discretion and able to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
7. Experience of carrying out H&S site and fire risk assessments.
8. Commercial acumen able to balance risks with a business perspective.
9. Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, etc.
