An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Orthopaedic team of nurses, medical staff, and allied health professionals working within our new dedicated Elective Orthopaedic Centre.
Working alongside all members of the clinical team within the multidisciplinary framework, the Ward Clerical Officer is an essential part of the team, helping to streamline the work of the ward and supporting all members of the ward team to provide a quality service.
The key responsibilities of this post will include:
1. Managing the ward reception desk and the main reception desk as required.
2. Dealing with telephone enquiries from visitors and other departments.
3. Greeting all visitors to the ward and providing support to the clinical team.
4. Providing clerical support and assisting the Ward Manager or Deputy Manager on the admission/transfer and discharge of patients.
5. Keeping records up to date by using PAS (Patient Administration System), i.e., patients admitted, transferred, discharged from the ward.
6. Liaising with nursing staff over the discharge of patients, including the collection of property from the General Office, dispatching notes, and arranging transport to peripheral areas.
7. Preparing clinical coding forms for patient episodes and ensuring they are completed by medical staff.
Working patterns to cover the needs of the service will be discussed at interview. This will include working between 07:00-19:30 on the front reception and 07:00-18:00 on the ward reception, which will be rotated.
