Customs Declaration Clerk
You will be part of a highly dedicated team of Customs professionals, responsible for delivering the highest quality of service to an internationally dedicated client base.
Location: Ipswich, London Gateway, Dover
Hours per week: Full-time – Monday to Friday with a rotating Saturday shift (currently one week in three or four; after working a Saturday you will have a day off in the following week).
Shifts: 0700hrs to 1500hrs and 0900hrs to 1700hrs, currently one week in three or four with an early start.
Salary: £25,000-27,500 p.a.
Key responsibilities:
* Ensuring customs declarations are processed in a timely manner and addressing any queries as soon as possible.
* Recording and reviewing customs declaration requests from clients.
* Updating systems with all relevant customs declaration information effectively and efficiently.
* Recording details of duties paid by P&O Ferrymasters and ensuring recovery from clients.
* Liaising with clients to ensure their customs declaration needs are met.
* Ensuring sufficient information is received and shared with carriers to maintain a smooth delivery service to the final destination and avoid delays.
* Assisting the Customs Declarations Manager in achieving team objectives and delivering service excellence to our clients.
Your profile:
We are looking for a Customs Clearance Clerk with strong import and export declaration experience. You will also have:
* Knowledge of CDS (Home use entries, IP, Simplified Frontier Declarations), Destin8, and CNS (Compass).
* An understanding of Microsoft software.
* Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload.
* Attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to deal with large amounts of information.
* Ability to quickly adjust with decisiveness and integrity.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills (both verbal and written).
* Ability to speak another European language would be an advantage.
* Ability to work shifts and cover some bank holidays.
