GRS is a well-known and respected brand name and provider of remediation systems, supplying process plant for the in-situ remediation of contaminated land/groundwater and the treatment of liquids and gases. It is part of RemedX Ltd, a member of RSK Group.
We now have a unique opportunity for an experienced Project Manager/Engineer to join the team to take over all responsibility for the smooth running of the projects. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate several years of experience in project management within the chemical, process or environmental industry.
The key requirement of the role will be to provide a practical hands-on approach to successfully plan and organise small to medium sized projects, from initial concept through to final completion. It is expected that the appointed candidate will develop into a more senior management position within the company (Operations Manager) within a short time scale.
The successful candidate will have a high profile role within the organisation and should have the capability to lead a small team of committed site staff including subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Organising and managing the various projects that the company secures.
2. Specifying and purchasing equipment.
3. Keeping accurate control of costs.
4. Preparation of necessary contract documentation such as method statements, risk assessments, etc.
5. Installation and commissioning of the equipment.
The role will involve hands-on site work, working away from home on a regular basis and travel throughout the UK with occasional overseas trips; thus, a full UK driving licence is essential.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of remediation technologies would be advantageous, but it is more important the candidate has a broad-based mechanical, electrical, process background and has experience of installing equipment which involves the handling of fluids and air phase streams. Some knowledge of vacuum systems and water treatment would also be advantageous.
Person Specification:
1. Qualified to HND or degree level in an engineering or science-based subject.
2. Experience in the water treatment industry, process industries or environmental engineering sector involving electromechanical systems would be of significant advantage.
3. Working knowledge of pressure vessels, vacuum systems, air strippers/scrubbers or similar multiphase operations would also be advantageous.
4. Strong organisational skills and able to communicate with project teams, clients, regulators, etc.
5. The ability to represent GRS commercially and technically at pre-sales meetings and subsequently at site meetings.
6. The capability to clearly communicate with both clients' personnel and in-house staff at all levels is essential.
7. Strong track record in managing time and resources effectively and within budget.
