At the University of Hull, we know diversity fosters creativity and innovation, and we want our community to represent the diversity of the world's talent. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where we all belong. We therefore particularly encourage applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented in the University of Hull workplace.
These include people from global majority backgrounds; people who have a declared disability; LGBTQI+ people; and women particularly for our Grade 9 and 10 roles.
The University of Hull is committed to driving successful outcomes for all students alongside delivering a great student experience within an inclusive environment that upholds the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our commitment to social justice drives us to create an educational experience that unlocks the full potential of our students.
It is an exciting time to be at the University of Hull as we build our One Team culture, drive service improvement and support our students and staff to achieve their personal goals and aspirations. An exciting opportunity is now available within Academic Services for a specialist wellbeing advisor to deliver support to students who are experiencing challenges with their psychological wellbeing.
Working as part of our Mental Health and Wellbeing team, the primary focus of this role will be the provision of one-to-one non-urgent high-quality psychological interventions and case-coordination for students who are experiencing psychological or emotional distress or poor wellbeing. The post holder will also provide support and advice to students who have experienced sexual misconduct and harassment. We are seeking compassionate individuals with significant demonstrable experience of delivering psychological and wellbeing interventions to adults or young adults.
The post holder will maintain a case load as well as offering single session or short-term interventions to address a range of presenting needs such as worry and anxiety, exam stress, low mood, sleep, workload management, and procrastination. A sound understanding of the drivers of psychological distress and poor wellbeing alongside the ability to deliver evidence-based psycho-education and interventions for a range of wellbeing needs to a diverse range of students is critical.
Knowledge or experience of working with students or within a higher education setting is advantageous. The post holder must be able to assess needs and plan, deliver and evaluate sessions with clear goals and outcomes which meet the holistic needs of the student.
We are seeking individuals with a professional qualification or evidence of relevant training and experience in a field relating to mental health, coaching, social prescribing, or psychological intervention. Excellent communication skills, a high level of motivation and adaptability, a compassionate and proactive approach, and a willingness to work collaboratively with others is essential to this post. The ability to effectively use a range of digital platforms is also essential.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to join a friendly, forward-thinking team and contribute to the wellbeing and success of our students.
