The Eyford Theatre and Day Unit provides high-quality perioperative care in a specialised ophthalmology setting. As a Registered Nurse, you will be integral to ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients undergoing elective and emergency ophthalmic procedures.
Main duties of the job
1. To assess, plan, implement, evaluate and provide high quality nursing care.
2. To work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
3. Communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
4. To manage caseload of patients within defined clinical area.
5. Maintain and develop high standards of care.
6. Take on responsibility for personal development and support the development and supervision of others by developing and maintaining specialist knowledge pertaining to theatres.
7. Contribute towards the continuing development of professional practice in the clinical area.
8. Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be a role model to less experienced/non-registered and new staff at all times.
9. Work proactively to ensure that every patient attendance meets the patient's expectations and needs with timely undertaking of procedure and effective communication with relatives, patients and carers.
10. To supervise and teach junior members of staff and learners as required, and maintain own personal development with support.
11. To support the senior members of staff in the management and supervision of the defined clinical area.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
* Evidence of on-going professional development through maintenance of professional portfolio and registration revalidation
Experience
* Experience (through placement or employment) of working in an acute clinical environment
* Current or previous experience in a relevant speciality
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Willingness to develop new skills and competencies
* Be well organised, tidy and manage own workload efficiently and in a timely manner
* Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate
* Personally resilient and able to manage complexity and work in an ambiguous or changing environment
* Excellent presentational, communication and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrates ability to use clinical reasoning skills and techniques to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient care
* Act as a role model and are able to lead by example to ensure the Trust's values and behaviours are reinforced throughout the area of practice
* Demonstrated ability to keep up to date with the professional issues that influence nursing practice relating to areas of clinical practice, management, education and research
* Able to contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies/protocols/guidelines relevant to the area of practice
* Have a good knowledge of TRAK computer system or similar hospital computer system.
