What you would do as a Mental Health Support Worker:
The role will primarily involve supporting students in the classroom with their mental health. These students may have trouble processing and regulating their emotions due to childhood trauma, which can lead to stress, anxiety, and depression. You will help them to process and regulate their emotions.
You will shadow the class teacher and provide support with general classroom duties. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside like-minded individuals and professionals in the education and mental health field.
The successful Mental Health Support Worker:
The ideal candidate will be open-minded, resilient, confident, and determined to help others. Flexibility is essential, as you will need to adapt your role to fit the needs of each child. Previous experience working with children with mental health needs is desirable but not essential. A positive attitude and a passion for making a difference are most important.
This role provides valuable experience for aspiring psychologists, therapists, and counselors, as well as individuals looking to gain experience in the classroom. Graduates in a related field are encouraged to apply.
You must have eligibility to work in the UK and possess a DBS or be willing to obtain one.
