Job Description
Populus is seeking a skilled DCS (Distributed Control System) Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and optimize industrial automation systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in control systems, process automation, and troubleshooting to ensure efficient and reliable operations across various industries such as oil & gas, chemicals, manufacturing, and power.
Role Scope: DCS Engineer:
1. Primary contact for day-to-day Control Systems issues.
2. Providing technical reports and feedback relating to Control Systems problems.
3. Provide Control Systems troubleshooting and technical support to the Maintenance and Project teams.
4. Assist the C&I Engineer with the selection, procurement, design, installation, and commissioning of new instrumentation and DCS/PLC Systems on both new and existing plants, including Safety Instrumented Systems for mostly ‘Hazardous Area’ Plants.
5. Assist with the planning and execution of modifications and upgrades to existing instrumentation and Control Systems, including the recommendation of upgrade strategies for DCS Systems.
6. Assist in the development of the annual capital and maintenance budgets, with due consideration to “Ageing Plant” issues.
7. Support the C&I Engineer and Maintenance Manager to ensure the Middlesbrough and Billingham Control Systems and I&E equipment are maintained in compliance with company processes, EH&S standards, design standards, and maintenance standards.
8. Supervise DCS-related contractors performing agreed activities on both sites, ensuring all EH&S processes including Permit to Work, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Management of Change are followed.
9. Develop relationships with DCS service providers and suppliers to optimize control systems performance.
10. Review and implement minor improvements to control and operational systems identified by the Alarm Management Team, Plant Managers, E&I Compliance Team, etc.
11. Assist with the development of Control Systems related maintenance procedures and operating practices.
12. Work as a team member to deliver awareness training for the operation of DCS Systems and compliance with C&I standards.
