SDAES Ship Checker Final offer is contingent upon meeting customer’s tasking requirements. Purpose: Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a SDAES Ship Checker who will be responsible for conducting ship checks aboard US Naval Vessels to verify the scope of work outlined in USN Work Notifications, located in Virginia Beach, VA. Job Description: Examine the affected equipment, system piping and ship’s structure. Ship check products (sketches, photographs, and other data) will support advance planning, writing of repair work items/specifications and estimation of labor, material and subcontractor work at the paragraph and line-item level for U.S. Navy Ship repair work, alterations, and modifications. Assessing ship’s material condition by reviewing work notification scope of work and conducting a ship check to validate the scope of work. Ship checker will collaborate with the planner/estimator in researching ships documents, analysis of ships conditions and test, determining scope of work required by reviewing and validating Work Notifications (2-Kilos). Interpreting and using all technical and material information available in Navy, Shipbuilder and Manufacturer drawings, technical manuals, documents, or Equipment Manufacture’s data and/or other pertinent commercial data to identify repair and modification requirements and to identify, price and order materials. Identify interferences and any other special circumstances that will impact the planning process and Work Item development. Support development of work items/specifications in accordance with company and JFMM (Joint Force Maintenance Manual) 4-E requirements using company and NAVSEA instructions and pertinent NAVSEA Standard Items, Class Standard Items, and Local Standard Items. Work with and in the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) and use the available application program to support development of work items/specifications and labor, material, and cost estimates in accordance with company and NAVSEA instructions and directives. Qualifications: Must have High school diploma or equivalent and appropriate Trade School or related Armed Forces School or at least 7 years related experience. Must have extensive knowledge of Navy ship compartmentation and lay-out. Must have the ability to read, understand and validate Work Notification and to determine the scope of work contained within the Work Notification. Must have comprehensive writing and communication skills capable of both verbal and written findings and recommendations to the Planner/Estimators. Must have knowledge of U.S. Navy ship construction, shipboard systems, equipment, and their operations, the JFMM and NMD. Must be familiar with Standard Drawing Indexes, Navy Standard Drawings, blueprints, systems diagrams, EOSS, CSOSS, Navy acronyms, and other technical publications and references. Desired Qualifications: Prefer a self-starter with the ability to work well with others as part of the ship check team. Security Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain at least a DoD Confidential Security Clearance and a Common Access Card (CAC) to gain access to government information and work sites, naval shipyards, and private shipyards. Travel Requirements: Occasional travel -less than 10% 10% overseas travel expected. Must be able to obtain a Passport, CAC and or DBIDS pass. If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements: Physical ability to climb ladders, transit decks and perform work on Navy vessels and the harsh environments found in shipboard compartments. Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Communicating with others to exchange information. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
