Stoma & ERAS Team
Our Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Plan sets out our Vision, Ambitions and Values that enable excellent care for our patients and service users. A collaborative, person-focused approach is at the very centre of everything we aspire to achieve, and necessary to deliver care that is high quality, compassionate, safe and effective.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Band 3 Clinical Support Worker to join the Stoma and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Team based in the Colorectal Unit at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. The post holder will be responsible for looking after a case-load of patients who are having surgery for bowel cancer and other bowel or urology conditions. This includes the day-to-day care of stoma patients and helping them look after their own stoma care whenever possible.
The role primarily involves supporting people who have a stoma and may also be part of an enhanced recovery (ERAS) programme. The colorectal unit in Edinburgh is the largest unit of its kind in Scotland, making it a very busy department with many opportunities to learn and get a better understanding about looking after surgical patients and patients with a stoma.
The post is a fixed-term 1 year post for 34.5 hours per week. The role operates Monday through Friday with no unsociable hours. The shift pattern is for 3 9 hour shifts and one 7.5 hour shift: 07:30-16:30 3 days and one day 07:00-15:00.
If you would like more information or to arrange an informal visit to the ward, please reach out to ERAS Nurse Practitioner Angie Balfour: angie.balfour@nhs.scot.
We anticipate that these interviews will take place on Wednesday 9th April at the Comely Bank Centre.
If you are an internal NHS Lothian Band 3 candidate, we will not proceed with shortlisting and interview and instead you will move to our internal transfer process.
