The Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of the food safety and quality assurance programs within a food production or processing facility. This role ensures compliance with local, provincial, federal, and international food safety regulations, as well as standards set by third-party auditors and company policies. The manager will oversee all activities related to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality, including raw material sourcing, production processes, product testing, and final product release.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive food safety management system, including HACCP and GFSI
- Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations, standards, and certifications.
- Lead and manage the Quality Assurance (QA) team in conducting routine inspections, audits, and tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Investigate and address customer complaints related to food quality or safety, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Work closely with the production team to identify potential food safety risks and develop preventative measures.
- Conduct supplier audits and ensure supplier compliance with the company’s food safety and quality standards.
- Train and educate employees on food safety practices, quality assurance processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on new regulations, industry trends, and best practices in food safety and quality assurance.
- Prepare and present reports to management on the status of the food safety and quality assurance programs, including non-conformities, audit findings, and corrective actions taken.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Professional certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP, SQF, BRC) is preferred.
- Extensive experience in food safety and quality assurance within the food industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
