Ward Clerk - Band 3
Opportunity: Brook Street is seeking a motivated Ward Clerk to join The Western Trust at Craigavon Area Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to provide essential administrative support within a busy ward environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide comprehensive clerical support to medical and nursing staff.
* Manage reception duties, including greeting patients and handling inquiries.
* Utilise Patient Centre to accurately record and update patient information (admissions, discharges, transfers).
* Manage patient charts and ensure availability for ward rounds.
* Book and manage outpatient appointments, including cancellations and re-bookings.
* Liaise with various departments (health records, secretaries, etc.) to ensure smooth patient flow.
* Handle telephone inquiries and correspondence, prioritising appropriately.
* Maintain ward supplies and report any equipment faults.
* Arrange patient transport and complete necessary forms.
* Provide basic training and support to new ward clerks.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in a clerical or administrative role, preferably within a healthcare setting.
* Proficient in using computer systems, including Microsoft Office.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure.
* Understanding of medical terminology (acquired through on-the-job training).
* Duration: Initial 3 months
* Hours: 37.5 hours per week
* Pay Rate: £11.67 per hour
