About the Role:
As the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll take a pivotal role in the design and development of automated machinery. You’ll work closely with the client’s in-house teams to deliver robust and efficient solutions, leading projects from initial concept through to manufacture.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the mechanical design process, focusing on stainless steel structures and steel fabrications.
* Produce detailed 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks.
* Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimised for production.
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
* Ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification.
* Liaise with stakeholders to ensure designs meet project requirements.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
* Extensive experience in mechanical design, ideally in automated machinery or similar industries.
* Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks.
* Strong knowledge of designing with stainless steel and steel fabrications.
* A solid understanding of manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, and assembly.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* A relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent).
