Role Overview:
Reporting into the Head of Finance & Compliance, the Junior Financial Accountant will play a crucial support role during the next stage of Claret’s growth. The role would, amongst others, include the below listed responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
* Process invoices, payments, and expenses, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Vendors; setting up new suppliers, including due diligence and keeping Vendor lists updated.
* Prepare bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies as required.
* Maintain and update the Prepayments and Accruals schedules.
* Maintain and update the PPE register.
* Prepare and post month-end journals in the accounting software.
* Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
* Audit assistance; manage and submit audit requests.
* Assist with Group audit requirements at year-end, ensuring subsidiary information compiled on time.
* Ensure VAT and other statutory filings are completed on time.
* Compliance tasks to include; ownership of the restricted list, maintaining compliance registers, and assist with quarterly prudential returns.
* Assisting in the validation on staff expenses in the expense claim software.
* Ad-hoc support for the CFO team as needed (HR, Office management, Portfolio management, Operations).
* Continually seek improvements in financial processes and systems.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Upper Second-class honours degree from a reputable university (accounting, finance, economics or mathematics preferable).
* Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
* Attention to detail and self-starter, able to work independently as part of a small team.
* Ability to multi-task and demonstrate good time management skills.
* Ability to adapt quickly to competing priorities in fast-paced environments, keeping not only themselves organised, but other team members, too.
* Proficiency in accounting software (specifically with Xero, desirable) and MS Excel.
* Basic understanding of FCA obligations desirable.
* Experience in process improvement and automation desirable.
* Ideally from an investment management background.
* Right to work in the UK.
