Job overview
A vacancy for a WTE 8a Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist with and interest and experience in neuropsychology has arisen in NELFT’s Adult Neuropsychology Service. The post-holder will be part of an established Neuropsychology Pathway in NELFT which offers specialist neuropsychological assessment, consultation and advice to teams in both health and mental health pathways in the Trust who care for patients with neurological conditions. These teams include local community rehabilitation teams, specialist community neurology nurses, an inpatient stroke rehabilitation ward, Talking Therapies (TT) and mental health and wellbeing (MHWT) pathways. The service covers NELFT’s London boroughs which include Waltham Forest, Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, and parts of Essex.
The main team base is in a purpose-built community health centre (Jane Atkinson Health and Well-Being Centre, Waltham Forest, E17 3HP). Regular input to teams in Goodmayes Hospital, IG3 8XJ, will also be required. Other bases across NELFTs London and Essex boroughs could be used for agile working and some virtual/home working can be accommodated in the role. NELFT is a digitally literate Trust, with laptop and smart phone provision as standard, and the post-holder will have access to Pearson’s Qinteractive for their neuropsychological assessments.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will predominantly be offering neuropsychological assessment and/or advice and consultation and will have access to various leadership opportunities including teaching, training, consultation, research/audit and supervision of trainees and/or Assistant Psychologists.
Supervision would be from a senior Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist and candidates with an interest in commencing or continuing their post-doctoral neuropsychology training towards Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN) entry are actively encouraged to apply and would be supported to undertake this training.
The successful candidate would work closely with a small but skilled team comprised of a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and a Principal Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist. They would also be part of a wider network of psychologists in neuropsychology who work in the Trusts memory services, older adult psychology pathways and stroke services. Attendance at relevant neuropsychology meetings, forums and CPD events is supported.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 pro rata for part time).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
1.To provide a highly specialist neuropsychological and psychological assessment service to patient referred internally to the Neuropsychology Service.
2.To provide and/or support the provision of evidence based neuropsychological and psychological interventions for service users at various sites. This will include working with individuals, groups, couples and families where appropriate.
3.To provide highly specialist neuropsychological/ psychological advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients’ formulation, diagnosis, and treatment plan.
4.To carry out professional duties and responsibilities in the following areas: clinical practice, service development, teaching and training, work with other agencies, consultancy and/or applied research and service evaluation.
5.To contribute to service development within the Neuropsychology Service/Pathway that pertains to neuropsychology and/or psychology.
6.Support the development of psychological services through the supervision of other qualified psychologists, trainee psychologists, and assistant psychologists.
7.To undertake risk assessment, risk formulation and risk management for clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment, formulation and management
8.Clinical Supervision of Trainee Clinical Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists in the Neuropsychology Service/Pathway.
