Principal Environment Officer

The Role
This role covers a number of disciplines such as statutory nuisance, private sector housing, and animal welfare. The post holder will take a lead role in delivering and developing these essential services, alongside dedicated officers specialising in these fields, and established procedures developed to maximise the resources available to the team. We believe we are in a great position to continue to develop these services and hope to go a step further, having highlighted anti-social behaviour, raising energy standards in rented homes, tackling empty properties and as well as promoting and showcasing our work both locally as well as nationally.
Our Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will also have an appreciation of the range of environmental health and licensing functions. You should be a qualified and experienced Environmental Health Practitioner, with an extensive knowledge of either housing and/or environmental protection who can roll up their sleeves to take on our more complex cases as well as experience in managing teams, which compliment our modern and caring organisation. In return, we will give you all the training and assistance you need in a friendly supportive team made up of other Principal Officers and Service Managers, building upon the success of previous postholder and showcasing the talents of a high performing team. In addition, we are currently taking part in a 4 day working week (32 hours per week) to improve recruitment and retention and support the wellbeing of our colleagues.
