Here's what you'll be doing
We are seeking a digital savvy, VAT-oriented, tax accountant to join our UK Finance team. Working closely with tax and finance colleagues, this role will include supporting E.ON's Industrial & Commercial business in serving large, complex clients. The role will also be key to further developing the digital tax capabilities of this well-established team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparing and/or reviewing VAT and Climate Change Levy (CCL) returns for the UK group and overseeing the relevant quarter end journals.
* Working with finance colleagues to shape the processes and data flows that support VAT and Climate Change Levy (CCL) compliance, including enhanced digitalization of the supporting audit trail.
* Providing ongoing tax advice and support to stakeholders across a range of change projects and initiatives, with specific responsibility for the Industrial & Commercial business segment.
* Acting as first point of contact for business colleagues on tax matters, including involvement in regular meetings, updates, and training sessions.
* Drafting responses to queries raised by HM Revenue & Customs and other external stakeholders, including liaison with business colleagues to obtain necessary information.
What we need from you
* A strong academic background.
* A solid grounding in accountancy and finance, ideally ACA/CIMA/ACCA qualified / part qualified, with experience of the SAP accounting system.
* A well-developed knowledge of VAT, gained from a previous in-house experience or an advisory role.
* Well-developed IT skills, with an interest in developing further knowledge of digital applications and data management in the tax environment.
* Commercial awareness and, ideally, experience of operating within a corporate environment.
* Effective inter-personal and communication skills, able to work effectively with a broad range of colleagues and to provide advice both in writing and face-to-face.
