Commercial Manager

Scope of the Role:
As the Commercial Manager, you will drive growth while balancing creativity with business success. In this role, you will manage budgets, forecast sales, optimise costs, and negotiate contracts to maximise value. You will also analyse trends, introduce innovative technologies, and foster collaboration across all levels of the business from finance to creative teams. You will need to be an independent thinker, with excellent and adaptable communication skills, equipped for dealing with different stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Budgets & Forecasting
o Estimating annual sales and costs for all account directors and clients.
o Reforecasting part way through the fiscal year.
o Looking at sales pipeline and forward book.
o Checking and agreeing estimates.
o Monitoring the accuracy, value and conversion rate of estimates.
2. Costs
o Cost rate increases and impact of implementing these.
o All inward and outward costs from all suppliers, plus intercompany activity.
o All expenses, travel, and entertaining vs budget.
o Training and recruitment vs budget.
o Time & active hours sold.
o Understanding of all elements from timesheet collection holidays and leave and how that impacts our weekly recovery.
o Recognising true costs.
3. Stock
o All work in progress.
o Aged debt.
o Job cost overspends.
o Provisions process and reconciliation.
4. Invoicing
o Ship to bill.
o Pre and part invoicing major projects in stages.
o Payment terms.
o Friday finance and week ending meetings.
5. Cash flow
o Keeping cash moving through spotting any potential bad debt.
o More regular invoicing throughout the month.
o Better visibility of what has been invoiced month to date and how far off budget.
o Financing and capital expenditure.
o Liaising with key people in the account team in salaries, purchase ledger, credit checks, new supplier set up, services agreements, confidentiality agreements, terms of payment and contracts.
6. People
o You will need to understand and collaborate with the whole team and connected teams, across the group.
o Inspire and encourage a team and community spirit.
o Lead by example, listen and be inquisitive.

o Be visible and mobile (visiting the various teams, businesses and clients where relevant).

o Understand the products and services offered.
8. Clients
o Gain a broad understanding of all clients and work types.
9. Sales
o Understand the client development process from pitching to budgeting and reporting on conversion/win rate.
o Budgets and performance against budget.
o Pipelines and HubSpot.
10. Reporting and systems
o ERP (Epicor).
o Adobe Workfront.
o Excel (estimating templates and rate cards).
o Power BI.
o Finance team systems.
o KPI s for all Create teams.
o Create a meaningful report for the Create management team meeting.
o Attend the account director and project management team meetings and provide a commercial update.
o Respond to ad hoc requests from members of the Create management team and executives.
o Help create a meaningful dashboard for Create management team in Workfront.
Salary and Benefits:
GBP55,000 basic salary plus benefits including pension, minimum of 25 days plus 8 days Bank holidays.
