Job overview
Due to career progression of our existing staff and developments within our services, we have an exciting static opportunity within our respiratory medicine team. We are looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist or a Band 5 ready to progress to a Band 6 to join our respiratory OT team to help us ensure that we meet the Trust’s vision to provide every patient with the care we want for those we love the most. This post is for 18.75 hours per week.
The post will be based on the acute respiratory ward working alongside both OT and MDT colleagues to implement and deliver a comprehensive OT service including specialist knowledge and education to our respiratory patients. Respiratory knowledge and experience are preferred; however, not essential, and other relevant clinical experience will be considered.
Main duties of the job
We are committed to providing the post holder with the opportunity to develop current/new skills with access to in-service training and professional development. You will receive supervision and annual appraisal; have access to peer support and encouragement to take an active role within your own continuing professional development.
As an autonomous practitioner, you will:
* Provide a flexible and comprehensive service to the designated area.
* Independently carry out specialised assessments and appropriate interventions for our respiratory patients with complex needs incorporating physical, personal, and psychological needs in relation to self-care, leisure, and productivity.
* Assess risks relating to the discharge process to ensure a safe and timely discharge of patients to the most appropriate setting.
* Provide advice and information to patients/carers including instruction and training regarding the use of equipment issued.
* Carry out day-to-day supervision of qualified and unqualified staff.

* Health Professions Council registration
Experience
* Specialist clinical knowledge and experience in the relevant clinical area within the acute setting.
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working.
