Team Lead – Warehouse

Role Overview:
As a Team Lead – Warehouse, you will manage a section of the warehouse, ensuring smooth operations, meeting customer KPIs, and fostering a culture of safety and excellence. You’ll lead a group of operators, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to ensure high performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee warehouse operations to fulfil customer demand and meet business targets.
2. Train and develop warehouse operatives within your area.
3. Ensure accurate stock records, inventory management, and regular stock takes.
4. Maintain up-to-date and accurate computerised or automated systems.
5. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement recommendations.
6. Address and resolve warehouse issues efficiently.
7. Prepare regular reports and statistics as required.
8. Ensure health and safety standards are maintained, and manual handling procedures are followed.
9. Manage warehouse security and maintain a clean, organised environment.
10. Step up to cover management duties during absences or leave.
People Management:
1. Manage team attendance and support the resolution of people management issues.
2. Communicate operational priorities, targets, and requirements to the team.
3. Monitor performance, conduct return-to-work interviews, and provide welfare support.
4. Participate in grievance and disciplinary processes as needed.
5. Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport companies when required.
Experience & Skills:
1. Proven experience as a Warehouse Team Leader with the ability to motivate and supervise a team.
2. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
3. Proficient in IT systems, especially spreadsheets, databases, and warehouse systems.
4. Analytical, numerical, and detail-oriented.
5. Knowledge of health, safety, and security requirements.
6. Understanding of customer deliverables and lean techniques (advantageous).
