PORTWEST a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE is currently seeking applications for the role of Trainee Junior Product Developer in Footwear, based in our new flagship Salford Quays, Manchester office. We are looking for a 2024 Graduate in Fashion and Design or a similar course. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to work alongside innovative product professionals, supporting Portwest’s current growth trajectory. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: •Sample/Ordering/Distributing/Evaluating •GAP analysis on Internal Range (NPD Research) • Organising testing/certification, liaising with test houses and with internal certification and compliance team •Conduct competitor research. •Building technical documents and specifications • Inputting data on the PLM system as may be required. •Concept sketches and ideations •Assisting Product Management team in the realisation of quotes and tenders. •Producing designs and graphics using Illustrator and Photoshop (CAD) •Material analysis from product dissection • Price updates and invoicing •Co-ordinating customer meetings Exercise attention to detail to maintain consistent high-quality product standards. REQUIREMENTS: Recently graduated from a Fashion or product design course Proficiency in Illustrator design software; Excel; Word Interest in Product Development/Design Knowledge of pattern cutting, construction and sewing. Ability to take direction well and work to tight timelines. Ability to work under pressure, to multi task & to produce required results without direct supervision.
