About the Role
Sense is recruiting for a Head of Technology Solutions to join our IT team in Selly Oak, Birmingham on a hybrid basis. This is an exciting new role focused on the design and delivery of technical solutions across Sense, including; Cloud Solutions, Connectivity, Applications, End-user compute. This role is responsible for planning and delivering change to these technology solutions, ensuring there is an efficient well managed supply chain to deliver what the organisation requires. The role is responsible for Cyber Security across the estate, including training of staff and testing of incident responses.
This role will lead a team of infrastructure and application solutions analysts and work closely with our suppliers. For the wider organisation this role will lead the delivery of corporate, coherent technology, promoting standard solutions and ensuring needs of users are met. The role holder will need to work with business areas, helping them to focus on business value and requirements, while delivering sustainable, efficient and elegant solutions that drive business benefit. The team of four is expected to grow over the next two years, with support from third-party providers expected to increase. The ability to make best use of limited resources, maximising business benefit, is key.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with the Heads of Data Management and Service Delivery (Technology) to scope, plan, monitoring and delivering projects successfully, within budget and on time
2. Develop effective working relationships with senior managers across Sense to translate strategic priorities into practical projects and programmes that they can deliver
3. Lead, motivate, and inspire the Technology Solutions team, a geographically diverse team of Engineers and Analysts, to collaborate effectively to deliver on their personal targets and objectives, plans and budgets
4. Carry out the relevant people management for the team including recruitment, annual appraisals, motivating performance, management of sickness absence and, where necessary, applying HR policies and procedures
5. Own the technical platforms and architecture for the technology estate, with a particular focus on the application and user experience
6. Establish and deliver technical roadmaps for all platforms
7. Establish Dev Ops approach and CICD pipeline for key applications services
8. Manage technical delivery for business-driven projects, from solution design to service transition
9. Support internal projects across the organisation that impact or involve the team
10. Supply chain management
Skills and Attributes:
11. Experience of managing suppliers in a multi-supplier environment
12. Knowledge of Cyber Security principles
13. Broad knowledge of end-to-end technology delivery from concept to in service
14. Project and Programme Management skills, capable of working on multiple projects and initiatives at the same time
15. Experience of working in a charity or social care environment desirable
16. Stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work with teams of varying technical abilities
17. A thorough knowledge of technology solutions including Applications, Platforms, Cyber Security, Cloud and Integration
18. Experience of delivering technology solutions through suppliers, including defining requirements, evaluating and selecting solutions and managing delivery and acceptance from a technical perspective
19. Knowledge of IT architecture, including developing architecture models using TOGAF or equivalent methodology
20. Knowledge of Project and Programme Management tools and techniques, for example Agile (all variants) or PRINCE2
