Here's What You'll Be Doing
Base location – Flexible (Hybrid)
Salary - £44,199 – £56,113 plus excellent benefits and career progression
In this role you will provide general SHE guidance and advice to the Lighting & Grid Team, supporting the SHE Manager and Lead Compliance Advisor, using effective risk control systems, procedures and standards to advise and support.
Main Responsibilities Of The Role
1. Deliver evaluation of compliance across L&G activities for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality requirements.
2. Ensure SHE performance information and trend analysis is provided for leadership teams as required (including for the SHWEF, Team Brief).
3. Manage the creation and cascade of the Team Brief.
4. Support the business to create and review task instructions.
5. Support the business to carry out risk assessments of new/existing work activities and development of risk control measures appropriate to the level of risk.
6. Provide guidance and advice to support the development of procedures, safe systems of work and other risk control measures.
7. Provide support to incident investigations.
8. Review Incident Entries for correctness and completeness.
9. Support the writing and management of SHE-related reports.
10. Own the production of safety communications such as alerts and bulletins, toolbox talks and briefings to raise awareness, provide key learning and drive positive culture and behavioural focus.
11. Conduct SHE-focused internal audits across the business.
12. Support evidence gathering for contractor health and safety accreditation schemes such as CHAS.
13. Complete and manage COSHH reviews through the internal software.
14. Highlight good practice and opportunities to learn.
15. General site-based advice and support.
16. Critical CSE Evaluation/Performance review support.
17. Facilitation and coordination of Fire Risk Assessments and COSHH assessments.
18. Horizon Scanning (new / amended legislation or industry guidance).
19. Support Safety and Environmental Risk profiling, insight analysis and reporting.
20. Supporting and carrying out risk assessments of new/changed work activities and development of risk control measures appropriate to the level of risk.
21. Supporting the business in the implementation of an integrated management system approach to deliver continual improvement.
What We Need From You
1. NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) Certificate and /or equivalent.
2. A broad understanding of relevant SHE legislation and regulation. Working knowledge of policies and procedures which affect the management of the business activities relevant to the role.
3. Knowledge of current policies and procedures which affect the HSSE management of the business. A proven ability to advise on Safety / HSSE at operational levels/ department activities.
4. Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to filter complex issues into a simple form.
5. Knowledge of general safety standards that apply to L&G Activities.
6. Demonstration of ongoing CPD.
7. Risk Management knowledge.
8. A working knowledge of PC-based computer systems.
9. Full EU/UK Driver’s license.
It would be great if you have
1. An understanding of relevant British Standards and legislation including, such as of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
