At Kingfishers Pre-School our team of highly qualified staff are committed to providing exceptional care and education, in our purpose-built facilities, set in the lovely grounds of Mursley Church of England School. We provide a happy, safe, caring and stimulating environment in which children can express themselves and progress towards their early learning goals. We offer a balance of play and structured learning, to enable each child to flourish and to lay the foundations for their future educational journey.
We are looking to grow our friendly team and are looking for someone to join us as a Pre School Assistant initially on a fixed term contract starting from 1st January 2025 to 31st August 2024.
This will be a term time position working Monday to Friday. The core hours will be from 08:30 to 15:30 however there may be the opportunity to increase these by providing cover for the Before & After School Club for the pre school children.

Salary details: Bucks Pay Scale Range 1 Band 6-10 dependent on experience

About the role
Kingfishers Preschool is a thriving village preschool based on the grounds of Mursley CofE School in Mursley Village. The preschool is set within beautiful grounds, surrounded by fields in a purpose-built building. We are incredibly fortunate to have a new and amazing outside space just for the Kingfishers children and our own on-site forest school that the children access weekly.
Kingfishers Preschool is led by a fully qualified Early Years teacher along with a highly skilled and qualified team.
This rewarding role will encompass working as part of our friendly team, to provide a safe environment where, high quality education and care is at the forefront of every experience introduced to the children and every decision made.
Along with fulfilling legal and statutory requirements and supporting the implementation of the settings policies and procedures other day to day duties will include:
Encouraging the development of young children’s communication and language skills through high-quality learning activities using programmes such as Little Wandle Pre
Reception Phonics and Helicopter Stories and Poetry Baskets.
Plan and execute exciting and appealing invitations to play following the curriculum planning as well as children’s interests to ensure that children get a well-rounded and diverse experience. This will include nurturing exploration of the natural world in our onsite Forest School facilities, inspiring creative and active outside play in our newly enhanced all weather outside play area, supporting weekly themed cooking activities based around the term’s topic, and developing mark marking and mathematical awareness through free exploration as well as planned themes and activities.
As a key worker you will be responsible for liaising closely with parents/carers, being their point of contact and informing them of relevant information regarding the pre-school and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement.
About you
We will require a minimum of a full and relevant Level 2 Early years Education and Childcare qualification or equivalent.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who has a genuine love of working with children, who can interact with children and adults alike and who is approachable and empathetic to the needs of others at all times.
They will have the ability to work with colleagues as part of a team both within the Pre School and across the wider school community, demonstrating that they are being able to take the initiative and respond proactively to changing situations.
A commitment to regular and on-going professional development and training will be expected.
Flexibility, a sense of humour, enthusiasm and a ‘can do’ attitude will all be desirable qualities.
