Due to the growth of their UK subsidiary, they are seeking a Part time Lab assistant/Lab technician. What do they expect of you? This is a great opportunity for an ambitious individual to work in a unique position within a food application laboratory that combines both house care / stock keeping duties but also supporting tasks in the development kitchen alongside food technologists. The right person will join their local Applications team and work closely with our Food Technologists to guarantee appropriate supplies are available for efficient and on time laboratory project management (packaging, ingredients, equipment…). You will play an integral part in achieving their mission by providing laboratory based operational and technical support enabling the team to showcase their Colouring Food products and their application in recipes to customers and to support business development. Job description These are some of the tasks which the role could cover: House care duties including Daily tasks (dishwasher clearance, calibration of pH probes, …), Weekly tasks (water flush, lab stock management, lab workwear, …), Monthly tasks (plants care, monitoring of stability equipment, stocking up consumables, …), Quarterly tasks (sanitising tap filters, monitoring of temperature probes & scales, …), Annual tasks (inventories / stock taking, cleaning of fridge/freezers, …) Help the team in maintaining a tidy organisation in the laboratory / storage areas / reception Support technical activities alongside Food Technologists such as taking photos, help with preparing Powerpoint reports, rotation of samples on stability test, help in the pilot plant area when working on large scale, prepare simple food demo concepts. Support marketing activities such as taking food stylist photos Support Reception with dispatch of samples using courier online platforms (DHL/UPS). Stock keeping duties including maintaining database up to date and dispose of old stock / organise order requests for reordering new stock across a wide range of items (packaging, ingredients, chemicals/ COSHH, food demo concepts, marketing giveaways, cleaning products, refreshments, stationery) What skills do you need? The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria: Good organisational skills with a creative mindset Good problem-solving and computing skills (Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) Keen attention to details and processes: Proven ability to follow protocols and document results accurately. You will be enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude and a team player You will be an ambitious, driven and self-motivated individual with very good interpersonal and communication skills and able to work with a high degree of autonomy.
