Consultant in CAMHS Psychiatry, Intellectual Disabilities
Join to apply for the Consultant in CAMHS Psychiatry, Intellectual Disabilities role at SintChristophorus.nl.
This is a 6 PA Consultant post in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the Intellectual Disability Pathway. It is a replacement post based at the Sue Nichols Centre, Aylesbury, but the role is countywide.
The CAMHS pathway for children and young people with an Intellectual Disability offers consultation, assessment, intervention, and care co-ordination for those requiring specialist skills and knowledge due to moderate or severe, complex, and enduring difficulties.
For a diagnosis of an Intellectual disability (as distinct from learning difficulties), a formal cognitive assessment indicating an IQ score below 70 and significant impairment in adaptive functioning is required. This diagnosis should be made in the context of a holistic assessment of need, with difficulties being pervasive and longstanding.
In line with recent legislation and good practice guidance, the Bucks CAMHS-ID Pathway works alongside other CAMHS pathways to ensure equal access to a range of specialist services for children with Intellectual disabilities.
It is expected that the mental health needs of children with a mild Intellectual disability (IQ 50-70 and associated difficulties) can be met within other specialist CAMHS pathways, which may require consultation from the Bucks CAMHS-ID Pathway.
